As part of our reading curriculum this year Lydia and I have been reading from chapter books. Actually, I’m reading them aloud and Lydia is listening. Chapter books have been a bit of a struggle with Lydia — she wants to read a book cover to cover in one sitting, so the concept of taking […]

it’s all greek to me
It seems not that long ago Lydia was a fast-moving toddler running up and down the halls with her cousin, Elizabeth. A short five or so years later, she’s writing her cousin’s name in Greek. Time is weird.
surprise surprise surprise
One year ago today I was suddenly in Auburn, reeling in shock along with my sister and brother-in-law as we marveled at their surprise Christmas baby. Happy Birthday, Jonathan!
the tree(s), 2014
We have emerged from the Death Virus to finally present The Tree, plus one. The smaller tree is Lydia’s responsibility. Total lights on the tree: 2,550 Times the cat has eaten the tree and barfed: 0! sputnik; fourty-eight months in orbit
You know, I was all ready to write up Sam’s birthday post on his actual birthday, but I decided to wait a few days to make it fashionably late — for old time’s sake. It’s just no fun otherwise. Sam is now a jumping, running, destructing four year old. It’s like the previous years’ Sam […]

i am lost without my Boswell
We are on a cat-filled journey again. Yesterday, we welcomed a long, black kitty into our home, which has been overly devoid of cats lately. Once we all get used to each other, all shall be well again. Though I had been contemplating the idea of CATS for a while, I didn’t expect it to […]
